So I arrived in Bangkok in the morning (after about 20 hours of traveling!) and got taken straight to my hotel. After checking-in, I explored the hotel and went for a swim…a good way to recuperate after the two flights I had!
I then ventured out of the hotel and went to explore. I lasted about 1 minute and then got distracted by a cute looking café/coffee house, I ended up getting a coffee frappé that would have been enough for 3 people! After exploring, I found a café to have an early supper in. I went for a local dish of fried rice with vegetables and chicken as well as a fresh mango smoothie! The next day was pretty much the same, a day of relaxation and good food…including a delicious hotel buffet breakfast!
That evening, I met up with my tour group. A group of 15. Ages were 18 to 30 something. We went out for a great meal at a local restaurant and then onto a bar with live music.
The following day, 7 of us (including our awesome tour guide) spent the day visiting some of the different temples in Bangkok…including the Golden Palace, Wat Po temple (known for the reclining Buddha). We also went for a boat ride along the Klong canal and walked through food markets which was very interesting. In the evening, we caught the overnight train (what an experience) to Surat Thani – the gateway to the south of Thailand. We then headed to our hotel – a rainforest resort! It was absolutely amazing. The resort was surrounded with palm trees and all sorts of greenery, as well as a swimming pool and clubhouse.
